Undergraduate Program
The Biomedical Engineering program is a five-year program that leads to a BS in Biomedical Engineering. The five years include a cooperative education (co-op) requirement that gives you the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom. Through co-op, you will spend up to 1 ½ years working in the leading BME industries or performing cutting-edge research in a biomedical research laboratory. You also have the opportunity to co-op internationally, either in industry, research, or by participating in service projects in an underdeveloped country. In your senior capstone experience, your task will be to solve a real-world problem that comes to you from a medical device company or from a practicing physician or surgeon. Wonder where a BME degree from UC will take you? Check out our Undergraduate Alumni site and see that 30% of our undergraduates go on to medical school, 25% continue their education in a graduate program, and 35% find careers in industry.
Check out our graduate program, where we offer MS and PhD degrees in research focus areas such as Bioinformatics, Biomechanics, Medical Imaging, Nanobiotechnology, and Tissue Engineering. Students have opportunities to do research with nationally and internationally known faculty.
Educational Objectives
